Goal
Engaging Visitors and Collecting Insights through a Next-Level PWA
For their participation in Gitex 2024, Dubai’s premier tech exhibition, Gapblue aimed to captivate booth visitors and gather valuable user data interactively. Mikado was tasked with creating a Progressive Web App (PWA) that showcased Gapblue's technological prowess and aligned with the constraints of the event's hardware and software ecosystem.
Challenge
Creating a Unified, Offline-Friendly Experience Across Multiple Devices
The project faced several key challenges in implementation. The application required seamless functionality across multiple platforms including Android tablets, iOS kiosks, and Microsoft Surface devices, while maintaining a consistent user experience. Additionally, the PWA needed robust offline data capabilities, allowing event organizers to store and access information without internet connectivity. The gamification aspect presented another challenge, requiring precise tracking of a reward system that was capped at 10 coupons across five devices daily to ensure fair and efficient distribution.
Transforming Challenges into Innovation
Our journey evolved from a React-based foundation to a Next.js solution, focusing on creating an engaging PWA that would work flawlessly across multiple kiosk platforms. Through strategic gamification elements, we developed a system that both captivated visitors and efficiently gathered valuable data.
Delivering a Scalable and Adaptive PWA
Mikado rose to the challenge, leveraging Next.js to create a versatile and robust application. The resulting PWA featured comprehensive cross-device compatibility, optimized for Android, iOS, and Microsoft Surface to ensure smooth operations across all kiosk setups. The solution included secure offline data management capabilities, allowing event organizers to store and view collected data without internet connectivity. Additionally, we implemented a sophisticated gamification system with a tracking mechanism that carefully managed daily reward caps while maintaining high user engagement throughout the event.
